ASUS Xbox Handheld Leaks Online

Author : Henry Sep 30,2026

Leaked images appear to show ASUS' Xbox-branded handheld device, internally known as Project Kennan, circulating online.

As initially reported by 91mobiles and spotted by Eurogamer, two photos of what seems to be the ASUS ROG Ally 2 device—one in white and another in black—have surfaced through Indonesian certification documents that referenced (now apparently removed) FCC listings in the U.S.

Both models feature Xbox-style button layouts (Y, B, A, X) rather than PlayStation or Nintendo configurations. The black variant's design stands out with a clearly visible Xbox button positioned left of the thumbstick—though curiously missing the iconic 'X' logo. Current technical specifications remain incomplete, leaving performance differences between color options uncertain.

Windows Central's Jez Corden reports these devices are "currently undergoing open testing at Microsoft HQ" and suggests an official reveal could arrive around May 20.

This follows ASUS Republic of Gamers' recent teaser on X/Twitter showing both an ROG Xbox controller and handheld. Xbox's official account responded with an intrigued reaction GIF, hinting at imminent announcements.

The leak aligns with IGN's earlier report about Microsoft's gaming hardware strategy, which allegedly includes a next-gen Xbox for 2027 and potentially an Xbox-branded handheld launching late in 2025.

Xbox Games Series Tier List

While Microsoft didn't manufacture this specific handheld, reports suggest they're developing their own device for 2027 launch alongside next-gen hardware. Phil Spencer recently confirmed Microsoft's first-party Xbox handheld remains years from release.

Regarding next-gen developments: Xbox Series X's successor has reportedly entered full production for its planned 2027 debut. This matches Xbox president Sarah Bond's statement about Microsoft "pushing full speed ahead" to deliver "the most significant technological leap in console history".
