A more advanced Alexa is rolling out, at least for early adopters. Supercharged by generative AI, Alexa+ represents a significant upgrade over the standard voice assistant. It introduces several new capabilities, with its core appeal being far more natural and fluid conversations. Amazon states that "Alexa+ is more conversational, intelligent, personalized – and it helps you accomplish tasks effectively."
Alexa+ is currently in its Early Access phase, limited to select Echo Show models: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or purchase one of these devices, you can be among the first to try it. Follow the link below to sign up for notifications about Early Access availability. Following this period, Alexa+ will become a free benefit for Amazon Prime members, while non-Prime users will be able to subscribe for $19.99 per month.

It assists with a wide range of tasks, from managing your to-do list and finding calendar details to making restaurant reservations. Amazon's Early Access page also mentions that "new features are being added regularly," so more information about the enhanced assistant is expected after the initial testing phase.
Compatibility is limited for now. Amazon confirms that certain older Echo devices—including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, and first or second-generation Echo Show and Echo Spot models—will continue using the classic Alexa. The company notes on the Early Access page, "We plan to expand Alexa+ to more devices soon, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com."
